Missouri Prosecutor Declines to Charge Officer Who Killed Michael Brown But Says Ex-Cop Is Not ‘Exonerated’

The Prosecutor for St. Louis County decided not to charge the police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown in 2014.

Wesley Bell, the first black prosecutor for St. Louis County, said that it was the most difficult news that he has ever had to share.

Bell confirmed that they could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the officer committed murder or manslaughter.

He also stated that “our investigation does not exonerate Darren Wilson”, which suggests that his department will be looking closely at instances of police shootings of unarmed black people going forward.
