Microsoft Updates Windows 11 Apps

Windows users have until 2025 to upgrade their operating systems to Windows 11 or purchase a new device compatible with the OS. This week, Microsoft has updated the Camera, Media Player, and Movies & TV apps for Windows 11.

The company added QR Code and barcode scanning capabilities to the Camera app. It already features camera, video, document and whiteboard capture options. According to ZdNet, Microsoft plans to implement new UI enhancements for the Camera app as well.

The Media Player app now includes CD ripping for the following formats: AAC, WMA, FLAC, and ALAC. Last March, Microsoft added CD playback support for the app.

Through a series of phases, Microsoft will strategically provide support within the Movies & TV app for Arm64 devices. Microsoft also has plans to expand its number of content formats available for audio and video streams of content.

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 Dev Channel test build. The company will be monitoring the feedback provided by participating organizations in order to identify areas they can use software engineering and cybersecurity to improve functions within Windows 11.
