album cover

Media dictates all, as it is in case of  Mick Harvey this time with Mexican singer and filmmaker Amanda Acevedo, Australian JP Shilo, and Berlin band Sometimes With Others. Mick Harvey has been on the music scene for 45 years, recording albums with legend Nick Cave, additionally working with PJ Harvey and Anita Lane,  and now Amanda Acevedo, the following Harvey’s duet. Harvey launched eight studio albums and 15 extra movie and theater soundtracks, where he additionally recorded with a classical music orchestra in Australia. His new album “Phantasmagoria in Blue” with Mexican singer Amanda Acevedo for Mute Records on vinyl, CD has 11 covers within the album that includes Harvey and Amanda Acevedo, initially duets, with a few  songs which are in Spanish, 2 are translations, one re-written and even some of the “covers” have been transformed into duets. All by authors such Luis Eduardo Aute, Sibylle Baier, Silvio Rodriguez, and in English Tim Buckley, Jackson C. Frank and Pat Benatar. This can be a thematic album that explores everlasting themes of mortality, love, and man’s seek for the that means of life, the songs’ melodiousness,  humor, unique in sure requirements; as a person with language throughout the spectrum of well-liked music, and the power to create temper with love songs, on rhyming and rhytmical regularity. All, significant and clever, completed on a spring tour in Germany and Europe, Harvey with Acevedo, Australian musician JP Shilo and Berlin Sometimes With Others band, in all their potential to discover themes of affection, drunkeness towards life, ecstasy, and sure, romantic sexuality as a human emotion, utilizing the common kind, which characterizes the poetic nature of the unique and its rhythmical regularity, these attributes go hand in hand with vocals of Harvey, JP Shilo, Amanda Acevedo, and Mika Bajinski and the subject of the chosen songs that dictate the dynamic rhythm of music.

The joyful rhythm and melody make this a somewhat uncommon break in Harvey’s discography. Not a lot of gothic, punky masculine rhymes, but however now, romantic sounds, with sure dynamics. The invisible and the intangible cling abouts, continually in search of to domesticate an expertise within the spectator. With subtly melancholic and pleased harmonies, with a mild rhythm and tempo of track that communicates with a subtext of want. All of it could also be within the selection of interpreted songs. And smilar to  Cave’s song “Into My Arms,” the chosen songs are characterised by dialectics of the understanding of love. Its synthesis is the central feeling of affection, love that’s positioned primarily and experientially within the object, somewhat classics, throughout the energy of affection to endure emotional liberation. And similar story as with Cave, Mick Harvey, where, I quote  “religion will not be predicated on a perception in an externalized different, however, way more powerfully, within the experiential actuality of the lover. It’s his presence on this planet that reinforces and validates his spirituality. This can be a ‘God’ embodied in kind and presence, and a love whose divine dimension is incarnated in and as mutual, reciprocal want. (Artwork of Nick Cave, Essays)
