Mary J. Blige means so much to so many people by being true to herself. This is the greatest gift to her fans. She wants to help women with her life. Her life is not perfect and she has been traumatized. My Life is her most important album. She needed her fans like her fans needed her. It’s real she put all of her pain into the My Life album. She wanted to see women be bigger better and stronger. She did coke and drank. She was in pain just like all of us. A girl from the projects is all that we need to be and we are good enough. But the project is like jail and you think you will never get out. It is not humane what they do to people. Roy Ayers “My Life in the Sunshine” was the start of her dreaming to have a better life, Her father exposed her to all types of music and her parents got divorced and her dad was gone and she missed him. Her mother was her biggest inspiration and she sang as her mother did, the clean-up woman was one of those songs that her mother inspired her. She was sexually abused she had an abusive relationship with KC of the singing group Jodeci and she had pain from the projects. She had the pain of the world and started doing drugs.
The gift of her music sang became a demo,Andrea from Uptown, and she had P diddy to guide her; and her pain gave her everything she needed to give to the world, She sang “Caught Up in the Rapture” by Anita Baker and the Uptown Records. She was the truth and the world we need to hear her, Andre Harrel knew she was needed at this time during the crack epidemic. This is a really good documentary. She wanted to get her people out of the projects. She did this but her life still had a lot of pain in her music which reflects her life. As a 19-year-old she had 2 million albums sold, she was scared of it.
The power of her music saved her and her fans this is what makes it beautiful. She writes and her voice is heard loud and clear. She is not going let anyone take her strength again.”I don’t like to wish the desire of my heart will be” she explains.
