Wonder Woman 1984 Actress Kristen Wiig on Production

Wonder Woman 1984 Actress Kristen Wiig

Actress Kristen Wiig is collaborating on the film Wonder Woman 1984 with Gal Gadot, and she revealed that their characters are working well on screen and they are learning from each other offscreen. The film is a sequel to the 2017 Wonder Woman that performed well on the global box office. The new movie will feature Wiig playing the role of Cheetah, who is slightly jealous of Wonder Woman and her abilities but is also there to support her throughout the mission within the plotlines. The original film was set in 1918, and it is going to be interesting for audiences to meet the new characters Wonder Woman will meet on her journey years later.

Wiig’s characters non-super hero name is Barbara. Gadot is Diana when she is not in her Wonder Woman mode. Wiig has plenty of positive remarks regarding their collaboration on the big screen. “I think Diana does see something in Barbara that she’s missing in her life: Barbara’s sort of openness and desire to be a part of society, because Diana’s so alone, too. I think they connect over that in a big way,” Wiig said in an exclusive interview with Warner Bros.

Wiig also said that she found her sense of humor is similar to Gadot’s and that it helps their chemistry on screen. “We really hit it off, much to the crew’s dismay because we were making up songs and singing and laughing all the time… Gal is just a great scene partner and friend and I loved working with her,” she added.

From Gadot’s perspective the feeling is mutual. “I love Kristen Wiig. She is a super-talented performer, actress, comedienne – you name it… The most amazing thing about working with her is her ability to transform; one minute she’s super vulnerable and shy and then, when she plays Cheetah, you look in her eyes and Kristen’s not there anymore, it’s a whole new thing. She’s brilliant,” she said.

Director Patty Jenkins has been thrilled with the way the cast has been committed to creating the best film they can. Everyone working on the production knows that there is a high expectation for this film to be successful, based on the original film grossing $821.8 million at the worldwide box office only a few years ago.

While it is good that the production has been completely finished during the global pandemic, the film studio wants to release it on December 24 in countries that speak English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The COVID-19 vaccines are still being tested and the public my not feel safe viewing the new film in theaters and many of them will not re-open yet anyway due to the fact that the coronavirus is spreading more easily now than ever. Although they will push for this deadline, it does not seem realistic that it can make a blockbuster hit right now. Since the theaters and fans will probably not be ready for it to release in theaters, there is always the possibility of delaying the film to 2021 or release it on a video streaming service.
