Book Description:

A beautiful collector’s hardback of the prequel novela to the bestselling A Good Girl’s Guide to Guide to Murder series. Find out where it all began for Pip!

THE GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER SERIES IS A TIKTOK SENSATION AND A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

Pippa Fitz-Amobi is not in the mood for her friend’s murder mystery party. Especially one that involves 1920’s fancy dress and pretending that their town, Little Kilton, is an island called Joy. But when the game begins, Pip finds herself drawn into the make-believe world of intrigue, deception and murder.

But as Pip plays detective, teasing out the identity of the killer clue-by-clue, the murder of the fictional Reginald Remy isn’t the only case on her mind …

My Thoughts:

I couldn’t resist getting the special hardback edition of this book as I have the others and it is super gorgeous. This is the prequel to the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder trilogy and can easily be read without having read the others, although you will want to after reading this one.

This was a super quick read with it being a novella and less than 200 pages. Agatha Christie fans I think will especially love it. The story centres around a murder mystery party of which all the characters are given information of who they will play with further information coming during the course of the party. It isn’t revealed to the reader who is the killer so was fun trying to work it out along with the characters. I’ve been to a murder mystery dinner which was nothing like this and think it would be way more fun.

Kill Joy shows us how Pip’s interest in unsolved crimes starts. It was full of surprises and definitely feels a bit like an ode to Agatha Christie. Lovely to see Pip in more happier times as the trilogy is a lot more darker. Great for YA and adult readers alike. I thoroughly enjoyed this prequel as I was having withdrawal symptoms after finishing the trilogy so this really hit the mark. Test your detective skills in this short and entertaining read!
