Kevin Costner shows up in Season 5 ‘Yellowstone’ trailer after exit

Hold your horses.

The ranch drama hit “Yellowstone” has released the first teaser trailer for the second half of Season 5 – which is the final season, according to Paramount.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that there might be a Season 6, after all. But the network has not confirmed that. So, this is the trailer for the series finale, at least for now.

The ranch drama follows the Dutton family, owners of the largest ranch in Montana, including patriarch John (Kevin Costner) and his adult children Kayce (Luke Grimes), Jamie (Wes Bentley), Beth (Kelly Reilly), and Beth’s husband, Rip (Cole Hauser).

Costner has confirmed that he’s not returning to the show – but there is footage of him in this trailer, and voiceover of him saying, “Legacy. You build something worth having, someone is gonna try and take it.”

So, it’s unclear at the moment how the show will write him off.

But it seems like the trailer is using footage that he filmed before his exit.

Another shot in the trailer shows Kayce Dutton telling his wife, “What I’m doing isn’t for the ranch. It’s for us.”

Meanwhile, a stressed looking Jamie is shown telling someone on the phone, “You destroy me, you destroy yourself.” Beth is shown on the phone saying “unlike you, I keep my promises,” so that’s evidently a conversation between them – unless the two shots are from separate phone calls.

Beth is also shown pushing another woman into a wall in a threatening manner.

Another shot shows men in “FBI” vests sorting through files.

In May, Costner gave an interview to Deadline slamming the show’s producers for “bull sh-t drama” amid his rumored feud with creator and showrunner Taylor Sheridan, and he said the show had “no scripts” to film Season 5 with.

In June, Costner, 69, took to Instagram to tell his fans in a video that he’s focusing on making his epic four part his western movie “Horizon: An American Saga,” which got tepid reviews and tanked at the box office.

“I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that that’s required, thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love, that I know you love. I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue, season five or into the future.”

Costner said that the hit Paramount series “was something that really changed” him.

The Oscar winner added, “I loved it and I know you loved it. I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning. I love the relationships that I’ve been able to develop. And I’ll see you at the movies.”

Paramount has remained silent about the possibility of a Season 6, but it would reportedly focus on Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.

Puck was the first to report the news. The Hollywood Reporter, Variety and Deadline subsequently confirmed the story.

But, with no official word from the network, Season 5 is still “the final season” — for now.

The show is also getting another spinoff series, called “The Madison,” starring Michelle Pfeiffer.

The second half of “Yellowstone” Season 5 premieres November 10 on Paramount Network.
