Kasie Hunt is Set to Leave NBC News & MSNBC

In the field of broadcast journalism, there always seems to be talented reporters who leave their current network in pursuit of better opportunities. Kasie Hunt is a rising talent who recently decided that it would be best to leave her current show and take her career in a different direction. Even though she has announced on air that she will not be returning, she also has been silent about the new network she plans to join next.

NBCUniversal has released an official statement regarding Hunt’s departure. She announced that she would be departing from the network on Friday, July 16th. “This is going to be my final broadcast with all of you” she said on air, and she followed with her commitment to keep her viewers informed of “my new experience in the following weeks”.

She continued: “I simply need to thank everybody at NBC News, at MSNBC, obviously to Mika (Brzezinski), for continually demanding that you should know your worth.” Brzezinski is the best-selling author of Know Your Value: Women, Money and Getting What Your Worth.

Hunt has been with NBC News since 2013 as a political journalist. She continued her work by also making frequent appearances on MSNBC. In 2017, she launched her own show and also became a contributor to NBC News’ Capitol Hill as a correspondent.

It is interesting that she is deciding to leave the day after NBCUniversal announced that they plan to create more content for their streaming service, Peacock. Hunt was supposed to have a new morning show on the app.
