Juxtapoz Magazine – Our mind rippled and sparkled: Moonassi Paints Waves in Seoul

[ad_1]

In a world of constant reverberations, Moonassi has created another wave of sound for which to exist in. Each of his paintings have a calming hum, a sort of internal language, that is beyond technology or the modern era and is constructed with an essence of the ancient. The gallery notes that “Moonassi’s works execute the beauty of simplicity and moderation with Hanji (Korean paper) and black ink as his main medium, using only black and white elements… The limitation of color doesn’t act as a constraint but rather contributes to a sense of liberation.” He was featured in our Black & White book and remains one of the most enigmatic artists we cover with the magazine, but it feels like his new solo show, Our mind rippled and sparkled, on view at EM Gallery in Seoul, is a powerful reminder that those who don’t make the loudest sound still can create a universal language for the world to understand. —Evan Pricco
