Over the past year, Justin Bieber has been focusing on creating interesting new singles primarily for the music-streaming audience. With “Lonely” the singer tugged at heart strings with a slow song about the loneliness of growing up in the spotlight.
He created two different versions of “Holy”, an upbeat pop version and an acoustic one, both featuring Chance the Rapper. He also made a single with Shawn Mendes, “Monster”. His fans are excited about the new song being released this Friday entitled “Hold On”
Bieber made the announcement regarding the new song on his birthday on social media. He also released the song’s artwork and a pre-order link to his upcoming album, Justice. Bieber confirmed the upcoming release of the new album last week and his fans are clamoring to learn as much about it as possible. The release date for Justice is March 19th.
“In a time when there’s so much wrong with this broken planet we all crave healing and justice for humanity. In creating this album my goal is to make music that will provide comfort, to make songs that people can relate to and connect to so they feel less alone. Suffering, injustice and pain can leave people feeling helpless.
“Music is a great way of reminding each other that we aren’t alone. Music can be a way to relate to one another and connect with one another. I know that I cannot simply solve injustice by making music but I do know that if we all do our part by using our gifts to serve this planet and each other that we are that much closer to being united. This is me doing a small part. My part. I want to continue the conversation of what justice looks like so we can continue to heal (sic)”
Bieber is at an interesting point of his career. Over the last several years he has not been pushing out records in attempts to gain as much revenue as possible. He has been focusing squarely on making each song the best it can be.
It also appears that he has been given the creative license to make whatever sound of music he would to by his production company. The singer released Purpose in 2015, and instead of making a new record which would essentially be art for art’s sake, he came out with Changes five years later. The reason why he’s coming out with an album in 2021 is so that his fans can have something to listen and relate to during to global pandemic.
Bieber is hyping up his album release by making post to his millions of fans on social media. He recently posted a pic of himself outside of the music studio where he created the album. He also posted a pick of himself holding music sheets with a caption that suggests they have finalized the track listing for the upcoming album. What remains to be seen is if the singles he has been releasing over the last year will all be on the album or if it will feature an entirely new track listing.
