Jennifer Lopez’s Alcohol Brand Partly To Blame For Marriage Woes

Reports suggest that the alcohol venture was “one of the things that broke the camel’s back,” along with Lopez’s alleged “obsession with fame” and her need to be “photographed and adored.”

They also hinted that Jennifer Lopez’s decision to move forward with her TV documentary, “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” played a role, as Ben Affleck was completely against its production.

In April 2023, Lopez launched her alcohol venture, Delola, joining a league of other Hollywood celebrities who own similar ventures.

At the time, Lopez’s move was seen as her simply expanding her portfolio as the multi-hyphenate she is.

However, it was unlikely anyone anticipated it would backfire on her marriage to Affleck. Sources close to the actor now deem it “one of the things that broke the camel’s back.”

The sources claim that when the brand first launched, the “Batman” star was “devastated.” He had previously spent years struggling with alcohol addiction and experiencing multiple setbacks.

As his wife, Lopez was seemingly expected to recognize that her involvement in such a business for financial gain could potentially trigger another relapse, but she appeared indifferent to the risk.

“Ben had to fight to get his life back after overcoming alcohol,” a friend of the actor said about the situation, per the Daily Mail. “Knowing how he lost everything, including the love of his family, knowing that he could possibly relapse, Jen decided to start her own spritzer line for more money, as if she did not have enough.”

As if things couldn’t get any worse, Lopez’s outdoor lifestyle, which contradicted Affleck’s need for privacy, drove the wedge even deeper. In the end, it allegedly forced Ben to “pull the plug on their marriage.”

According to a close source, Lopez’s “obsession with fame became too much” for Affleck, although he had initially tried to accommodate her need for publicity.

“Ben doesn’t like the celebrity red carpet thing, but he did it because she loved it,” said the source about the couple.

They added, “Her obsession with fame became too much for him. She needed to be photographed and adored. She would share so much of herself with the world that he felt there was nothing left sacred for him. She needed to do this. This had become a part of who she was — fame.”

Insiders have also shared that Lopez’s documentary, “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” was another instance of her choosing fame over her marriage.

They claim the project “destroyed their marriage” because Affleck was against it, particularly since Lopez planned to tell their love story in the film.

“They lost £18 million and [it] ruined Ben’s trust in her,” a source told the Daily Mail. “Ben seeing her spread their love letters on a table for others to read [as she did onscreen] infuriated him. This is when he knew that she put fame above love.”

Another source shared that Alleck wanted Lopez not to do the project because he wanted to “keep this stuff private and because it cost too much money.”

With Lopez going ahead with the venture and refusing to scale back on her red carpet engagement, it allegedly  became clear to Affleck that “it was never about him; it was always about her.”

Alongside reports from friends of Affleck and Lopez, the duo’s actions in recent weeks have hinted that there is no turning back from ending their marriage.

On multiple occasions, Affleck has been spotted without his wedding ring, while Lopez has been seen on solo trips. They have rarely appeared in public together, and Affleck has been absent from important events involving Lopez.

Even more telling, the couple’s $68 million house in Beverly Hills has been up for sale for a while, and Affleck, who moved out some time ago, recently bought a $20.5 million “bachelor” pad in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.

A divorce is expected soon, with sources claiming that the documents “are finalized, but not yet turned in.”

Lopez recently turned 55 and celebrated with a lavish birthday party in New York. While that was happening, her husband, Affleck, bought himself a new $20.5 million bachelor pad.

According to People Magazine, the actor closed escrow on the palatial property in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles on July 24, the same day Lopez marked her 55th milestone.

The actor’s new mansion has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, breakfast and dining spaces, and a separate family room. It also has a den, walk-in closets, a movie room, a powder room, a guest house, and more.

Affleck’s decision to buy the property has been labeled the “final insult” to Lopez.

An insider told Radar Online, “JLo had been holding onto hope that there could be a reconciliation if they were to spend some time apart, but this is like a stab in the heart.”
