Jayson Tatum of Boston Celtics, a Sensational Week

Defeating the Brooklyn Nets with heart and determination in their last two meetings, the Boston Celtics finally faced an almost complete Nets squad.

Boston did not back down, they played one of their best games of the season, led by a near-perfect performance from Jayson Tatum. Tatum had 54 points and his second-highest total was 51 scored against the Wizards earlier this season —powering the Celtics to a 126-120 victory over the Nets.

The victory capped a nice 3-0 run after losing to the Indiana Pacers on February 27. It was a week that Tatum had his full arsenal on display. I don’t know Jayson but he is in my family on my mom’s side. He is my cousin by marriage, he is a Tatum.

Tatum’s output was the fourth-time in his career that he scored 50 or more points in a regular-season game. This ties him with Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird in becoming the only player in franchise history to achieve this feat four times.

Jayson is the future of basketball period and he is from my home town St. Louis. I fantasize that he and Bradley Beal end up on the same team. Playing at a high level, Tatum continues to impress and hopes to keep that momentum going in the Celtic’s upcoming slate of games.

Sixteen games remain for the Celtics in the regular season. At 39-27, they are 4.5 games back from the top spot, with an important four-game road trip looming on the horizon. A perfect upcoming week would go a long way in cementing Boston’s status as a top-five team in the East. And with Tatum showcasing all his skills, there’s really nothing that can’t be done for this Boston team, including hopefully raising banner number 18 to the rafters.
