With the 2024 presidential election a mere 55 days away, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will meet for their first debate tonight at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Airing at 9 p.m. ET, tonight’s presidential debate is the second in the 2024 election cycle — and Harris’ first since becoming the Democratic nominee for president.

“It will be devastating if we screw this up,” a Harris adviser recently told Rolling Stone about the debate, who also said tonight “is one of those ‘failure is not an option’ kinds of evenings, isn’t it?”

Tonight’s debate marks the first time that the Democratic nominee has debated the former president since President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race in July, following his first debate performance against Trump in Atlanta earlier this summer. Harris, meantime, officially accepted the party’s nomination for president at the Democratic National Convention in August, and, shortly after, sat down with CNN for her first major sit-down interview alongside running mate, Minnesota governor Tim Walz.

“I think it’s important to have people at the table when some of the most important decisions are being made that have different views, different experiences,” Harris said during her CNN interview in August. “And I think it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who was a Republican.”

Moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis, tonight’s debate will last for 90 minutes. Trump and Harris will each have two minutes for their closing statements, and like the first debate between Biden and Trump, the candidates’ microphones will “be live only for the candidate whose turn it is to speak and muted when the time belongs to another candidate,” per ABC’s debate rules. Trump is set to give the closing statement.

“America, see you tonight,” Harris wrote on Instagram, hours before tonight’s second presidential debate. Here’s where to stream the Harris-Trump debate online tonight.
