Cheers to my favorite ‘thespian’ (he hates being called an ‘actor’) Nicolas Cage who celebrates his 58th birthday today-January 7. Happy birthday, Nicky baby!
Cage recently made several appearances on YouTube videos in Zoom video conference calls with SAG/AFTRA, Deadline, a podcast on Variety, Hollywood Reporter, etc. discussing the success of his film, Pig directed by who Cage refers to as ‘Archangel’ Michael Sarnoski that was released last July 2021. He’s receiving much well-deserved press and recognition for his role as ‘Rob.’ I also predicted ‘Oscar buzz’ for his incredible acting in the film and was proven correct! Cage made the cover this month in honor of his roundtable discussion with the Hollywood Reporter.
In honor of Cage’s birthday; Check out these interviews with SAG/AFTRA, Deadline, Variety Podcast, Hollywood Reporter, HBOMax here on YouTube:

He also was quoted as saying he prefers to be called a thespian instead of an actor because the word actor implies liar.
Several media outlets recently interviewed Nic including IndieWire, The Week, Insider, Entertainment Weekly, GamesRadar+, etc.
In these interviews, Cage talks about how ‘Rain Man’ the horse nearly killed him while on the set of the new Western movie Butchers Crossing while filming in Montana a few months ago, begging his uncle Francis Ford Coppola to appear for a role in Godfather 3, a viral video that leaked of him singing karaoke as a form of therapy that he considers private which forced him to stop singing altogether, etc. In my humble opinion as a true Nicolas Cage fan, I think that’s a huge mistake! He should have continued with the karaoke it is good therapy for him if he likes it! Lol!
He also commented on the Roundtable segment on the Hollywood Reporter video about the Alec Baldwin ‘Rust’ tragedy that ‘actors’ need to be properly trained when using guns on a movie set.
I don’t want to cast blame anywhere, but I do think, and I’m not talking about anybody, but people don’t like the word movie star. We want to be humble actors. But a movie star is a bit of a different kind of presentation because you need to know how to ride a horse,” he explained. “You need to know how to fight. You’re going to do fight scenes. You need to know how to ride a motorcycle. You need to know how to use a stick shift and drive sports cars, and you do need to know how to use a gun. You do. You need to take the time to know what the procedure is. Those are part of the job profiles.”
-Nicolas Cage on proper handling of guns on a movie set-
This April, fans including myself have a new Nic Cage meta-film to look forward to called, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent; a comedy film where Cage gets to make fun of himself and acts out the characters he’s portrayed in his films! Also stars Pedro Pascal who plays the infamous drug kingpin superfan who invites Cage as a guest to his birthday party and pays him a million bucks! This should be an amazing and fun film to watch!
Cage is also set to star in Renfield where he plays Dracula. He came close when he played the character Peter Lowe in 1987’s Vampires Kiss but has never played the role of Dracula before.
Happy birthday Nic and many long years ahead!
