Greenwich International Film Festival Awards $10,000 Grant to Special Education Legal Fund

GIFF awards community service grants and announces their film festival line-up

On Saturday evening February 6, The Greenwich International Film Festival (GIFF) recognized and celebrated its six Community Impact Award recipients virtually and has crowned its winner of the $10,000 grant from the Stapleton Foundation. The $10,000 grant was awarded to The Special Education Legal Fund as the winner of the Audience Choice Award. An additional $5,000 was raised for the Special Education Legal Fund, giving the organization a grand total of $15,000 in funding.

The virtual event was emceed by WABC’S Amy Freeze and the highlights of the festival included words of inspiration by Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont and leaders of the organizations honored with the Community Impact Award. Community Impact Award recipients are Abilis, Building One Community, Family Centers, Inc., Filling in the Blanks, Food Rescue US and The Rowan Center. $100,000 of GIFF grant funding was given to the award recipients and additional funding was raised for the Community Champions. In addition, GIFF has announced their Social Impact Film Showcase scheduled to take place on February 18-21, 2021. This year’s film line-up will feature ten critically acclaimed films from several diverse filmmakers from the US and across the globe. It will include a variety of panels, Q&A’s with cast and filmmakers, and an award ceremony for the Best Social Impact Film, presented by the Bill & Ann Bresnan Foundation. Passes to the virtual festival are available for $75 on the GIFF website.
