The Greenwich International Film Festival (GIFF) announces six charities who are the winners of a $100,000 grant for their organization making an impact on the community. The Community Impact Ceremony will be held virtually this year due to COVID-19 on February 6.
Winners:
*Abilis: Provides people with developmental disabilities and their families in Lower Fairfield County, CT. with support and advocacy for building able lives and strong communities.
*Building One Community: Their mission is to advance the successful integration of immigrants and their families.
*Family Centers: Empowering children, adults, families, and communities to realize their highest potential.
* Filling in the Blanks: Their mission is the fight childhood hunger by providing children-in-need with meals on the weekend.
*Food Rescue US: Food Rescue US is committed to reducing both hunger and food waste in America by connecting the vast amount of healthy, fresh surplus food with critical hunger demand.
*The Rowan Center: The mission of the Rowan Center is to provide counseling and support services to sexual assault victims and to eliminate sexual violence through community-wide education programs.
GIFF also released this statement on their website about the $10,000 grant being awarded to the 2021 Community Champions who are deserving organizations providing crucial needs to people in the community.
“We are also excited to share information on our 2021 Community Champions, deserving organizations providing crucial needs for people in our community. We invite you to learn more about the Community Champions and get involved through financial support or voluntarism. Please make sure to RSVP to attend the Community Impact Award Ceremony and get the chance to vote for your favorite Champion by February 6th at 5 p.m. for the Audience Choice Award – a $10,000 grant from The Stapleton Family Foundation.”
The Greenwich Film Festival (GIFF) celebrates gifted artists and filmmakers and promotes Greenwich, CT as a film and visual arts epicenter. The mission is for these talented filmmakers to showcase their work through panels, screenings and workshops. The festival was founded by Carina Crain, Colleen deVeer, and Wendy Stapleton to bridge the worlds of film, finance, and philanthropy.
