Fans of the fantasy series Good Omens have been waiting for over a year for the release of the show’s third season. However, production on Season 3 has now stopped after serious allegations were made against showrunner Neil Gaiman. The show, based on a novel by Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett, originally debuted in 2019 to positive reviews. After premiering a sequel season in 2023, the show was intended to conclude with a third chapter. Now, production on Good Omens Season 3 has reportedly been halted indefinitely following assault allegations against Gaiman.
Prime Video’s Good Omens halts production on Season 3
The halt to the production of the third season came after numerous criminal accusations against showrunner Neil Gaiman were released recently.
As per Deadline, Amazon appears to be looking to adopt certain production modifications to tackle the issue. The production on Good Omens Season 3 was paused just days after work on a feature adaptation of the author’s The Graveyard Book was paused by Disney.
The claims made against Gaiman have been made by four different women, who shared their accounts via a podcast. Titled Master: the Allegations Against Neil Gaiman, the podcast was released by Tortoise Media earlier this summer. However, Gaiman has denied all of the allegations and has stated that he was disturbed by them, as per Deadline.
Good Omens Season 3 was confirmed in December 2023, before production on the project was halted over the aforementioned controversy. This season would have seen the return of Michael Sheen and David Tennant as Aziraphale and Crowley, respectively. The fate of the final chapter of the series is currently unknown. Amazon is expected to make a decision regarding Season 3’s production once the accusations made against Gaiman have been fully investigated. The possible release schedule for Season 3 therefore remains unclear at the moment.
