Gelli Arts® Denim Booklet in a Jeans Pocket by Giovanna Zara

Hello everyone, Giovanna here! In this post, I will show you how to create using old jeans, to make a cute and colorful denim cover booklet, with its signature inside! We will also create a lovely, gel printed holder made out of a jeans pocket.

To get vibrant and crisp prints on denim, it is advisable to first make a gel printed layer of white acrylic paint, and then print over with a colorful layer.

You can apply this technique to decorate your own jeans and proudly wear them: in this case you can use fabric paint or add a fabric medium to your regular acrylic paint to make them washable.

Enjoy!😊

Step by step process:

 – Cut a strip of denim and a pocket from an old pair of jeans

– Spread an even layer of white acrylic paint on the (mini) plate mounted on acrylic block or acetate

– Lay a stencil on the denim

– Press the plate on the denim

– ‘Clean’ the plate pressing it on paper or on another side of the denim

– Leaving the stencil in place, repeat the same step with a colorful layer of acrylic paint

– Fill the whole strip of denim until you are happy the result

For the booklet process:

-Collect your favorite gel print

– Cut them to size to fit inside the denim cover

– Fold them in half and create the signature

– Lay the signature on the opened cover aligned with the spine

– Thread a needle with cotton or embroidery floss

– Poke two holes and made a simple binding closed with a knot
