Rodrigo Blanco,
Foresta Erotica was created by Rodrigo Blanco, an Italian painter. He was born in 1975 in Latina, Italy. He has held several personal exhibitions, such as an exhibition entitled Recent Works in 2010 at the Galleria Puccini in Ancona; Umanovacuo in 2012 at the University of Trieste; Cieli, exhibition and Lacrima by Morro D’Alba in 2014 at the Puccini Gallery of Ancona, and Progressive Signal Signs in 2014 at the Comel Space of Latina.
Foresta Erotica presents some blue-green lines with gradient colors from white, pink to yellow as a background. Blanco reduces reality to a minimum shape without losing its dynamic. Those blue-green and black vertical bars can be seen as an existence that interrupts the space.
As a viewer, you might associate this painting to the title Foresta Erotica. Probably you can imagine various trees that grow in the forest under the yellow sky.
Whether it is linked by title or not, this painting is captivating. It can speak so many things through its simple form. It reminds us of abstract expressionism painting which leads the viewer to the sublime. As Barnett Newman (1984) in The Sublime is Now wrote, the sublime can be achieved by “hold on the exalted and our absolute emotions…without being burdened by the traditions of Western European painting”.
Barnett Newman,
About seventy years ago, Barnett Newman painted Vir Heroicus Sublimis or Man, Heroic and Sublime in the English translation of the title. It consists of large red background (242.3 cm × 541.7 cm) with some lines in vague white and black colors. His painting has been considered as a philosophic statement that resists against the standard of art at that time and expresses the purity of feelings.
Foresta Erotica brings art back as a pure expression of human feelings, without worrying about historical burdens, art standards, or economic benefit from the painting.
Foresta Erotica and other Blanco’s works are set to exhibiting in Weber & Weber Gallery, Turin, from 22nd September – 31st October 2020.
