Eddie Murphy returns as ‘Prince Akeem’ now ‘King Akeem’ as he takes over the throne of Zamunda after his father passes away in the #1 film in America on Amazon Prime, Coming 2 America.Things take an interesting turn when Akeem finds out that he has a bastard son in Queens from another mother named ‘Mary’ who was a prostitute that he had an affair with while seeking his ‘queen’ Lisa who he is now married to in the film. He returns to where all his adventures originated which was back to Queens, NY to find his illegitimate son.
Many of the cast return to the film to reprise their roles several years later in 2021. The original film was released in the 1990s. Besides Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Tracey Morgan are in it and there are some surprise guest stars in the movie too.
And while parts of the film were funny, I didn’t think anything about it was different or special. It was just a repeat of the same plot displaying a younger version of Akeem himself when he was his illegitimate son’s age of 30 trying to find his queen. I thought some parts of the movie were quite crude without providing any hints or ‘spoilers.’
The original is usually better, and that’s the case with the sequel.

Overall, it was an entertaining film, just not as good as the first. You be the judge once you view it.
