Film Adaptation of Original Broadway Hit, “Dear Evan Hansen” Will Star Julianne Moore

The forthcoming production of the film adaptation of the Benj Pasek and Justin Paul’s hit Broadway musical of Dear Evan Hansen (Universal) is in production and will be coming to theaters, VOD, streaming platforms, and DVD. No specific date has been announced when the film will premiere.

EW.com reports that the film will feature an all-star cast; including Julianne Moore as Evan’s mother Heidi and will also star Amy Adams as Cynthia, the mom of Evan’s classmate Connor. Ben Platt will reprise his role from Broadway as Evan Hansen; a teenager who suffers from social anxiety and gets entangled in a web of lies surrounding a classmate who commits suicide. Moore and Adams will appear in the upcoming thriller by Joe Wright entitled, The Woman In The Window.

Actress Rachel Bay Jones starred in the original Broadway production as Heidi and won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

The rest of the cast stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) and Nik Dodani (Atypical). Stephen Chbosky will direct from the original script written by Steven Levenson.

Moore has appeared in several films; most recently. In Gloria Bell and Bel Canto. Her next upcoming project will be in Julie Taymor’s biopic, The Glorias where she portrays Gloria Steinem.
