Conflicts between fan groups have become more common.
A complicated situation between the fans of two popular actors recently came to a head in person.
Wang Yibo is known to many K-Pop fans as a member of the boy group UNIQ, which has been on hiatus for many years. During their hiatus, Yibo turned his focus to promoting in China, acting in dramas, and appearing as a mentor on Produce Camp 2020.
The star got his big breakthrough as an actor in 2019, starring in the drama series, The Untamed. The Untamed is based on the danmei (Chinese media featuring homosexual couples, geared towards women) novel Mo Dao Zu Shi, though the television series was watered down to suit China’s ban on LGBT portrayals in films.
He starred alongside actor Xiao Zhan and fans of the program have remained dedicated to the pair, with some even “shipping” them in real life, similar to BL pairings in Thai media. This has also led to conflict between fans of the actors, including at a recent concert.
On August 24, the Yuehua Family Concert took place, with Yibo as one of the included artists.
Some in attendance brought fan support items featuring Xiao Zhan, though he was not present.
This resulted in fighting between groups of fans, with some chanting “Xiao Zhan died” at one point. Things even took a physical turn, with videos showing fans fighting

While it is understandable to love your favorite stars, disputes between fans should never be taken too far.
