EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE – Carnosus Introduce You To The “Worm Charmer”

How much sick death metal from Willowtip Records is too much sick death metal from Willowtip Records? “No such thing” is the answer you’re looking for which is a good thing, since I have more sick death metal from Willowtip Records for you. This time it’s the dark and writhing death metal from Carnosus, which we first covered on the blog a few years ago. On “Worm Charmer”, they strike a great balance between dirty, groovy main riffs and more technical flourishes on the solos, creating a kind of aggressive death metal that still has plenty of meat to hook into. Head on down below to stream the track in full!

I love the balance between that chunky, high-octane, Morbid Angel main riff, and the explosive virtuosity of the solo in the middle of the track. It tickles the good parts of my brain to pair that heft and impact with the more flowery and articulate style of the technical playing. Likewise, the vocals are a good mix between abrupt, forceful growls and higher pitched timbres verging on the pig squeal at times, creating that same sort of “high/low” contrast. Sprinkle in those crashing cymbals, powerful kicks, and production that does an excellent job of picking out all of these contrasts and sounds and you’ve got yourself all you need in sick death metal from Willowtip Records.

Speaking of which, “Worm Charmer” comes to us from the aptly named Wormtales, which release on October 18th from, you guessed it, Willowtip Records. You can head on over here to pre-order it. Stay death!
