Hailing from Dublin, YARD are the enigmatic electro-noise band who released their latest single ‘Bend’ on 6 August 2024. The band are renowned for their intense and immersive sensory experiences, as they bridge the gap between techno and noise rock.
Their ominous mascot ‘Bucketman’ visually represents their signature sound, as the band rapidly carves out a niche in the Irish music scene. YARD has graced stages with the likes of Shame, Psychotic Monks, Mandy Indiana, CLT DRP, Scaler, Enola Gay as well as Chalk. Their inimitable live performances have earned them prominent spots at acclaimed festivals such as Eurosonic, The Great Escape, and Primavera Pro just in 2024 alone. YARD draws inspiration from musical prodigies like SUUNS, Death Grips, and Nine Inch Nails.
‘Bend’ perfectly encapsulates YARD’s distinct sonic offering. It’s pulsating with energy and aggression, merging heavy rock and grunge with elements of electronic music. The track opens with their signature blinding electronics, smashing drums, and tough guitar riffs, all set against the bellowing vocals of lead singer Emmet White. The result? A structured piece of organised chaos that demands attention and leaves listeners clamouring to experience the band live.
Emmet White shares: “When you are caught in cycles of ‘bending over backwards’ for people and find it hard to realign yourself. Overextending yourself into others’ realities so much that you can’t find your own. Not recognising the contorted version of yourself that is left after accommodating the wants of many. Leaving you with physical reactions to this situation with tight, tense and involuntary body movements.”
