Edinburgh, Athens of the North, the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture as a Registered Scottish Charity organizes two competitions for a time being: an art and architecture competition online, all regulated by COVID-19 rules for the coming year of 2021.

The Royal Scottish Academy building is one of Edinburgh’s magnificent architectural constructions, located on nowadays favorite tourist meeting point The Mound and designed by William Henry Playfair 1850, which is along with adjacent National Gallery the most famous neo-classical design that transformed Edinburgh into a modern Athens of the North.

This magnificent building is now home of the Royal Scottish Academy and 2021 RSA Annual Exhibition. The exhibition 2021 will be a physical and alive contemporary art and architecture show fair in Edinburgh, Scotland, in spite of the virus outbreak. This exhibition has evolved over the years, showcasing Scottish art alongside and now inviting international artists as an independent voice to artists on issues that matter. I guess that it means that this competition is open for international artists, while most of the Scottish art competitions are in fact, due to an outbreak of the virus and financial crises in the UK, close for international participants.

Artists may submit up to 2 works of any dimensions in wide spectra of any fine art medium, drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, film, sculpture, installation, or performance.

To submit work to be considered for the exhibition artists can just register at

www.royalscottishacademy.oess1.uk

There is an entry fee involved for each work: £15 per work / Students £10 per work and a £10 hanging fee for any work hung in the exhibition and the deadline for submissions is Wednesday 3 February 2021 at 5pm.

Just imagine exhibiting in this magnificent building and everything that is coming is just easy.
