Eddie Van Halen was an American-Dutch musician who is most notable for co-founding the band, Van Halen, with his brother. He won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance  with For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. He also won four MTV Video Music Awards and had been nominated for so many others. Since then Van Halen has sold over 80 million albums and has become recognized as one of the world’s best rock bands.

Unfortunately, the legendary musician has passed away due to throat cancer.

According to TMZ he died at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica with his wife Janie by his side.

Over the last few days the throat cancer had moved to his brain, which made him very difficult to treat.

Eddie is known as one of the best guitarists to even live. His solos on Van Halen records are memorable and a pleasure to listen to.

Eddie’s skills as a musician and songwriter created some of the best rock songs of the late 70s, 80s and 90s: “Unchained”, “Runnin with the Devil”, “Hot for Teacher”, “Jump”, “Panama” and so many others.

The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 and their music will forever be apart of the classic rock genre and great music in general.
