Drake Confuses Fans By Gushing Over ‘Goated’ Chingy Lyrics

[ad_1]

Drake felt particularly called to some lyrics from Chingy‘s 2003 hit “One Call Away” over the weekend – but fans can’t figure out if he’s serious or being sarcastic.

Taking to his Instagram Story on Sunday (August 18), Drizzy shared a screenshot of the lyrics he was referring to:

The next day, I’m with the fellas at the cage playin’ ball/ Here she come with her friends, they posted up on the wall/ Now I’m showin’ out, tryna dunk, tryna dribble/ Break fast through the middle just to see her smile and giggle.

Underneath it, he wrote:  “Nah Chingy I felt this like why do I play better when the tings aren’t watching you really struck a chord with this one goated lyric.”

He then had more to say, posting the screenshot a second time and adding: “Also, the face you said tryna dribble like off that bar we know you were ass at ball but your ting showed up and you started doing too much like this real af you are a guy for that bar.”

While it outwardly sounded like praise, some fans were left wondering if Drizzy was being shady for an unknown reason.

Sharing Drizzy’s posts on X, one person wrote: “Did Drake just diss Chingy or is he just joking around?”

“On my momma I came here for the same answers [crying emoji] cause wtf he trynna be jokey for,” someone replied, while someone else said: “i’m so confused [crying emojis] saw the story and had to go to twitter.”

In other news, Drake has taken a lead role in helping a venerable Venice soccer team stay alive.

According to an article in GQ Italia (spotted in turn by Billboard), the 6 God received notice that the nearly 120-year-old Venezia club needed 10 million Euros ($10.9 million) immediately, and then another 30 million Euros ($32.7 million) soon afterwards, in order to stay out of bankruptcy.

So Drizzy sprung into action, according to the star’s chief business officer Matte Babel.

“Venice is an incredible city and Venezia has always been a special club,” he said. “I spoke to Drake, then Brad [Katsuyama, co-owner of Venezia] and I discussed the details of how we could help. Within two weeks we had a deal, raised the money needed to pay the salaries and avoid bankruptcy.”

The money reportedly came from “a group of North American investors.” It is unclear how much of the money was Drake’s directly, though he and his team were reportedly responsible for “mobilizing” the fundraising.

In addition to the investment, ties between Venezia and Drake deepened via the superstar’s Nike sub-label NOCTA, which is now the team’s “official technical partner.”
