Dax (The Cyborg Chronicles, #4). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Books Best Blog

Dax by Kelsey Nicole Price

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When the Global Allegiance terminated all Cyborgs, rumors were rampant that they still existed, either hidden away with wealthy collectors or—even more scandalous—part of the Cyborg Rebellion.

Poe
Cyborg is a dirty word.
The world wants to forget them. Not me.
I have been dying to meet one since I learned of their existence.
Okay, I have been dying to meet a certain one.
Dax. The Science Model. The most brilliant cyborg ever created.
So what’s a girl to do?
Sneak into the cyborg rebellion headquarters that’s what.
So that’s what I did. And in my defense I didn’t plan on stealing Dax.
But now that I have him how can I ever let him go?

Dax
I am the original cyborg.
The only Science Model in existence.
My processors are brilliant. A true work of art.
Still not one female wants me.
Time after time I get passed over.
Then a female sneaks into the woods and with one look I know Poe is mine.
In that moment I have to make a choice. The cyborg rebellion or her.
And I choose her.
Now all I have to do is get her to choose me in return.
How hard can it be?

Dax

Dax the science guy!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🤎🖤💜💙
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😲🫣😡😤

The Hero: Dax (a.k.a. 010 101) – he is the only science model cyborg in existence. He is part of the cyborg rebellion. When the Global allegiance learned that the cyborgs they had built and experimented on had souls and couldn’t be controlled, they tried to get rid of all of them. They made owning a cyborg against the law and the cyborgs rebelled. The headquarters of the rebellion is hidden away deep in a forest in a large underground bunker. Dax has seen some of his cyborg compatriots find human mates, but he thinks he will never have his own yet that is what his heart aches for.

The heroine: Poe – she has always been fascinated with cyborgs, and when she finds out about the rebellion and that there are cyborgs that still exist, she is dying to meet them. She is especially interested in the science model. So, she goes off to find the rebellion headquarters and is sure that she will be welcomed among them.

The Story: Poe comes across Dax in the woods and is happy to see him, though soon afterwards Reaper, a military model and the leader of the rebellion finds them together and insists that Poe might be a spy. Without thinking too much about it, Dax disables Reaper with a code, which is treason against the rebellion, so he and Poe take off together.

I liked these two main characters quite a bit. Dax was the first cyborg ever that Dr. Shaw created and the only science model, so he felt a little out of place with all the other cyborgs since there are hundreds of each of the other models. Poe is a reporter, but she is such a fangirl for cyborgs, and she is quite odd in and of herself. She silently talks to her own conscience like it is another person, even goes as far as arguing with herself at times.

The thing I didn’t like was the fact that it was so much of a love fest right from the beginning. I mean Poe had always crushed on Dax and Dax had been lonely and wanting a female for himself. There needs to be a longer getting to know you, getting to like you, timeframe. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope for a reason, because even if the two main characters can’t control their attraction, they still have to spend much of the book getting over their animosity towards each other.
