Nearly four years ago, it was reported that Creed singer Scott Stapp was cast as Frank Sinatra in a Ronald Reagan biopic. Now, with the movie Reagan set to hit theaters on Friday (August 30th), we’re getting the first look at Stapp as Sinatra.
An image released by Rawhide Films [via Billboard] shows Stapp in character as Sinatra in a scene in which the legendary crooner performs at the old Cocoanut Grove nightclub in Los Angeles. In the photo (see below), the Creed frontman is wearing a white tailcoat and black pants and bowtie, as he’s seen singing behind an old-school microphone.

In a previous statement, Stapp said, “Sinatra in performance mode was an exercise in restraint. He had this steely, stylish swagger and his sheer presence commanded a room. I was excited to join the cast and blown away by the on-set attention to detail, style, and overall production.”
Interestingly, Stapp’s Creed bandmate Mark Tremonti has celebrated Sinatra in real life, releasing the album Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra in 2022 and performing shows with members of Sinatra’s backing band.
Reagan stars Dennis Quaid as the titular actor-turned-president, with Penelope Ann Miller as wife Nancy Reagan and Mena Suvari as his first wife, Jane Wyman.
Creed, meanwhile, are in the midst of a massive North American reunion tour. The current summer leg will run through late September, while a fall leg will kick off in early November. Tickets are available here.
