Crazy Town’s Shifty Shellshock Died of Fentanyl Overdose

Crazy Town frontman Shifty Shellshock died from the combined effects of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on Tuesday, September 24th.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, the coroner’s office referred to Shellshock’s death as an “accident.”

Shellshock — whose birth name was Seth Binzer — died on June 24th after being found unresponsive at his home. He was 49 years old.

His representative, Howie Hubberman, said in a statement following his passing that, “Seth has been struggling with substance abuse problems for quite sometime. Seth was not happy with the daily struggle that’s called life. Some people cope in many different ways. It’s unfortunate we lose so many people to addiction and accessibility to harmful drugs. Shifty was a real-life tragedy. Too fast, too hard, too soon.”

Crazy Town is perhaps best known for their 2000 single “Butterfly,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Shellshock had been open about his issues with addiction over the course of his life and appeared on the reality television series Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.
