Community Media Offers Screenwriting Course

Are you interested in learning how to write and edit a screenplay? If so, you can learn it online, in academia or from community organizations.

McMinnville Community Media (MCM) will offer a free five-session course on how to write full-length screenplays.

The workshop is set to run alternate Fridays (6-8 p.m.) in May and June starting on May 5, and continuing May 19, June 2, June 16 and June 20 at the MCM studio at 825 N.E. Third St.

The course is open to writers at all levels. It will focus on how to create scripts from the idea stage onto a final draft, with emphasis on the following: dialogue, formatting, plotting, formatting software, character development, shot lists, narrative arc, and setting of scenes. It will also highlight the process of adapting a short story to a 15-minute format and collaborative filmmaking.

The workshop will be instructed by Phil Guzzo, founder of McMinnville’s monthly Second Saturday Film Group.
