Comedian Aries Spears’ Perspective on God, My Experience and Tamela Mann’s “Take Me to the King”

This is hard for me because I am almost 60 years old.I went to my 40th high school reunion and I must say that time has gone by fast.

All the things Aries Spears is saying about God-I’ve thought about at some point. But I had an out-of-body experience and that changed my life.

I became really sick and God asked me if I “was ready to go” and I said “no, I gotta be here for my son.” God gave me the gift of going back in the body and I woke up sick and had to be put in the hospital while all my organs were shutting down.

The doctor came in and said to me “you got AIDS.” I was married and I had only slept with my soon to be ex-wife and condoms were our birth control. The tests came back and showed I did not have AIDS.

So, I know there is a God. I was in my old job as Group home director and I was in my office and I had a White Castle bag and the ceiling came down. I got up and took the bag into the kitchen and it collapsed. The weight of the ceiling was so heavy that it would have broken my neck and killed me.

I say God is alive and well, that was not just “luck”-it was not my time. So, here I am questioning God saving Donald Trump from Covid that would have prevented so many lives from dying if he had died. But that was not God’s will. He doesn’t take junk anyway, so like Spears below, I question God when I see a child die but he does not take junk rings in my mind.

Trayvon Martin was fighting for his life when he was killed. Kyle Rittenhouse killed men that were trying to take down an active shooter. He was found not guilty and the NRA members funded his defense with $5 million dollars.

So, here I am questioning God just like Aries Spears, but I know God is alive and my spirit is housed in my body and the body dies and spirit lasts forever-it goes back to the source and that is God. “Take Me to the King” performed by Tamela Mann expresses the truth of God.

LyricsTake me to the king
I don’t have much to bring
My heart is torn in pieces
It’s my offering

Take me to the king truth is I’m tired
Options are few

I’m trying to pray
But where are You?
I’m all churched out
Hurt and abused
I can’t fake

What’s left to do? Truth is I’m weak
No strength to fight
No tears to cry

Even if I tried
But still my soul
Refuses to die, mm-hmm

One touch will change my life take me to the king
I don’t have much to bring

My heart’s torn into pieces
It’s my offering lay me at the throne
Leave me there alone

To gaze upon Your glory
And sing to You this song

Please take me to the king truth is it’s time
To stop playing these games
We need a word

For the people’s pain Lord speak right now
Let it fall like rain

Oh yeah, we’re desperate
We’re chasing after You, Ohno rules, no religion

I’ve made my decision
To run to You

The healer that I need take me to the king
Don’t have much to bring

My heart’s torn to pieces
It’s my offering lay me at the throne

Leave me there alone

To gaze upon Your glory
And to sing to You this song take me to theLord we’re in the way

We keep making mistakes (the glory)
The glory is not for us

It’s all for you come on, come onTake me to the king
I don’t have much to bring

My heart’s torn to pieces
It’s my offering lay me at the throne
Leave me there alone
To gaze upon Your glory

And sing to You this songTake me to the king
