Charly Caruso Departs from WWE, Goes New Full-time with ESPN

Charly Caruso

Over the last few years, Charly Caruso (Charly Arnolt) has been working as a commentator for both WWE and ESPN. She had made many appearances on both brands top platforms like ESPN’s First Take and Sports Center, as well as WWE’s Monday Night Raw, Friday Night Smackdown and exclusive content on the WWE Network (which is now a part of the Peacock streaming app).

Charly’s ability to create successful content for each company is admirable, and many others in communications probably could not pull off working for both companies because they each speak their own languages. While working with WWE, Charly would need to be familiar with the storylines, types of wrestling moves, character development and ensure that her portion of the script turns out to be a solid promo to promote matches.

On the other hand with ESPN, she would need to be constantly updated on every aspect of professional sports. While she enjoyed working for both companies, she recently announced her departure from WWE in order to go full-time at ESPN. She made her announcement on Instagram, thanking WWE for giving her the opportunity to work for the company and wishing it success in the future.

In a press release, ESPN noted that Charly will be joining the network full-time as a part of a multi-year contract extension. She will continue to be a contributor to First Take, Sports Center, Sports Nation, and co-host of the weekly First Take, Her Take podcast.

“I am SO excited to announce I have accepted a full-time position with ESPN! It feels so rewarding to take this next step in my career with a company that has really fostered my growth, and given me a bounty of huge opportunities, since first bringing me on board in 2018,” Charly posted on Instagram. “As I take this monumental next step in my career, I can’t do so without thanking so many of the people at WWE who I’ve spent the last nearly 5 years with. Thank you to those on and off camera who I had the chance to connect with not only professionally, but personally. Some true gems!💎

“And of course, thank you to the WWE Universe, a network of some of the most loyal fans in the world. I hope you all continue to stay in touch because your encouragement means everything! Lastly, thank you so very much to my family and friends who have believed in me and my dreams every step of the way. It’s been quite the journey! I love you all ❤

There is a bit of controversy with Charly’s departure from WWE, many of which are probably rumors. There are stories on social media that suggest that she was often late with interviewing wrestlers during the live shows, others suggest that she really wanted to move on from the company because she was having so much success over at ESPN. These are merely stories that do not seem to have any merit.

ESPN’s press release indicates that Charly will start full-time in April. “It is so incredibly exciting to become a full-time member of the ESPN family,” Charly said in the ESPN release. “I look forward to continuing to grow with such a talented group of professionals and I can’t wait for all the opportunities that lie ahead.”
