Bun B and OVO producer Boi-1da have responded to Sauce Walka‘s complaint that Drake doesn’t care for the Houston rap scene.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (August 13), Walka criticized Drizzy’s relationship with H-Town rappers, despite the fact he has cited the city as a major influence and owns property in Texas.
The “Ghetto Gospel” rapper began by referencing the 6 God’s many collaborations with Atlanta rappers like 21 Savage, Young Thug and 2 Chainz, saying: “Still to this day, why does Drake not have a bunch of records with Houston artists? You’ve been doing that with Atlanta. It’s 7, 8, 9, 15 artists that you got songs with in Atlanta.”
“Because why? Not only would the city of Atlanta look at you weird for not doing that, but you knew that it was also beneficial for you to make music with [artists who are on a similar level to you].”
Walka, who is from Houston himself, then took aim at what he perceived as a lack of love from Drake towards the city’s rappers.
“How did Drake love Houston so much at that time and not have music with artists that you are uplifting from this community?” he asked. “Fuck me, I don’t care. It’s bigger than me. I don’t care about [him doing] a song with me.
“Travis Scott is still the only rapper that’s got a song with Drake. It makes sense ’cause it’s an equal trade. It’s not like, ‘I’m helping Houston and changing your life.’”
He added: “It’s about fair exchange and business. If you are using the lineage and the culture of somebody’s city, do something that helps not yourself; do something that actually makes the economy of that city and music bigger and greater.”
Sauce Walka later acknowledged that Drake has previously worked with Bun B but disputed the UGK legend’s ties to Houston.
“No disrespect to Bun B, [but] he’s from Port Arthur; he’s not from Houston,” he claimed. “This is Houston, Texas we talking about.”

After catching wind of his comments, Bun hit back on Instagram, writing: “Born in Houston. Northwood Manor. Moved to West Side PA in 6th grade. None taken.”
Drake’s longtime collaborator Boi-1da also took issue with Walka’s rant. In response to a comment on Akademiks’ Instagram page that said: “Travis, Bun B, Pimp C, OG Ron C, DJ Screw, Multiple Houston producers etc…the sense of entitlement is crazy though,” the Grammy-winning producer wrote: “selective memory [laughing emoji].”
Drake and Sauce Walka have had issues in the past but appeared to be on friendlier terms after they were spotted laughing and joking in a Houston strip club earlier this year.
