Broadway is Coming Back in 2021: ‘Waitress’, ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Frozen’

Broadway is a significant component of New York’s economy. It is good news to report that some shows will begin rehearsals soon, which means that it won’t be long before the city’s most thriving district will be back and ready for audiences. Due to COVID-19, Broadway and Off-Broadway theatres had to shut down. However, moving forward, theatre fans can rest assured that the shows are coming back soon.

It is with extreme pleasure to report that the Broadway musical, Waitress, made its Broadway debut on Sept. 2, 2021.

According to several sources, there will be more Broadway shows that will be produced and staged in 2021.

Throughout the pandemic, some theatres streamed videos of previous shows, and some productions have even given their audiences a behind-the-scenes look at plays by showing rehearsal footage on YouTube. It will be interesting to see if these events will continue, but more importantly Broadway is now live again and that is something emotional and special for all the performers, technical staff, producers and patrons of Broadway.

As of Aug. 19, the cast and crew of Broadway’s latest production of The Lion King met together for the first time since the start of the pandemic. The Lion King will return to Broadway on Sept. 14, 2021.

Sources have confirmed that the cast of Frozen North America Tour has met for the first time since the pandemic. It will debut on Broadway in 2021; a specific date is slated to arrive within the coming weeks.
