Britney Spears has explained her reason for a shock Instagram delete leaving 34 million fans in the dark. The 39-year-old princess of pop still had fans getting over her engagement to boyfriend Sam Asghari this month when she booted herself off the social media platform. Spears, who had been using Instagram to document life amid her conservatorship and her steamy romance with 27-year-old Asghari, shocked the world by vanishing – she’s since hopped onto Twitter to reveal more.
Shock Instagram Delete After Engagement
Britney had updated one day before deleting her account and to celebrate finally getting engaged to personal trainer Asghari. The 2016-commenced couple posed outside the “Toxic” singer’s L.A. home for a bit of a fourth middle finger deal – the Cartier ring flaunt was shared to Sam’s IG, while Britney shared a video. “Can’t f-cking believe it,” the blonde told fans as she broke the exciting news.
Britney, who met Sam Asghari on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video, made her IG exit clear on Twitter, also reassuring fans. The star wrote: “Don’t worry folks…Just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement!!! I’ll be back soon.” Spears even threw in a cute ring and wink emoji, plus love-centric ones including lips and a rose.
Stunning Instagram Announcement
Fans have been hoping Spears and Asghari would announce an engagement, this after a 2021 court confess had Britney telling Los Angeles judge Brenda Penny that her conservatorship was preventing her from wedding Sam – or having a baby with him. Britney said she’d been forced to keep in an IUD amid wishes to become a mother for the third time. In a statement to Hollywood Life, rising actor Sam’s rep revealed:
“Talent Manager Brandon Cohen of BACtalent is proud to celebrate and confirm the engagement of client Sam Asghari to Britney Spears. The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them.”
Of course, the tide is turning for Grammy winner Spears, whose father Jamie Spears has just filed to end her conservatorship after 13 years.

Prior to the engagement announcement, Asghari was spotted shopping for engagement rings at Cartier in L.A. He then claimed his Instagram was hacked in a ring drama photo, but that’s all blown over now that the engagement is official. Fans have since begged Britney to sign a prenup, this to protect her estate, worth an estimated $59 million.

Speaking to Forbes earlier this year, Sam hinted at wanting to be a dad. “I don’t mind becoming a father…My priorities in life are to remain humble and understand where I came from and where I’m going. I want to take my career to the next step when it comes to acting,” he said.
