DMX aka Earl Simmons is in grave condition after suffering a heart attack from a drug overdose

Popular rap artist DMX, who is known for having run-ins with the law and battles with drug overdoses, has suffered a heart attack at his home in the Hudson Valley on Friday and was transported to White Plains Hospital according to TMZ.

The hitmaker is known for the rap tune, ‘X Gon’ Give It To Ya’ whose real name is Earl Simmons, he was taken to the critical care unit had very little brain activity, and was reportedly in a ‘vegetative state.’ He is a White Plains resident and has ties to Westchester in Mount Vernon and Yonkers, New York. Here’s a YouTube video on this story:

DMX attorney Murray Richmond told NBC New York that he suffered a heart attack but did not disclose what caused it. He gave an update and said that DMX is on life-support and is still alive but in grave condition and said in his opinion, “DMX is one of the great poets of our time.”

His fellow colleagues are asking followers for prayers that DMX survives the “fight for his life.” Eric B, one-half of the duo Eric B. and Rakim posted an image of himself on Instagram stating, “Please pray for my brother DMX” with the hashtag, #DMXhospitalized.” Rick Ross also posted to Instagram telling his followers, “Prayers up for DMX the legend, let’s put that in the sky.”

It is not yet known if he’s going to make it but a source told TMZ “It doesn’t look good.”

UPDATE: According to sources from TMZ: DMX is clinging to life in the ICU unit. Few family members have visited him in the hospital and they are not giving up. DMX’s fiancee Desiree Linstrom and his mom, Arnett Simmons have been allowed to visit him but he is not responsive. Some of his kids are coming to visit him in the hospital, including his son Exodus who he shares with his fiancee. He suffered oxygen deprivation and a heart attack from the drug overdose. His family is restoring hope that once his heart inflammation subsides, he will be ok but so far it doesn’t look good as he has very little brain function. TMZ reports that DMX has believe it or not…15 children!

Fox 5 reporter Lisa Evers was live on the scene when the Ruff Ryders motorcycle gang arrived to pay tribute to DMX at White Plains Hospital and reported in a video on her Twitter feed and said that an earlier statement made by someone claiming to be a family member was unauthorized and that person was not allowed to speak. An official statement will be made shortly by a member of the rapper’s family.
