BooKecCenTric: Lit Chat – Conversations about Books & Life

Apr. 2. 2022

I bought this little cute box of bookish flash cards sometime ago from a bookstore, which I think every book lover should have. I love the variety of questions within these cards, and I always look forward to the challenge of answering the random question(s) presented in each card.

So I pulled out two Lit Chat cards recently and got these questions:⁣

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀?
I love being lost in books with words that entice and challenge me; words that provoke, invoke, incite, and excite me… words that expose my inner feelings and lead me to an epiphany… words that inspire me to become a better person. To put it simply — books play a significant role toward my growth and overall happiness.

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀? 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀? 𝗘𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀?
I read all three! I love hardcovers, but because they can get bulky and heavy, I lean more toward paperbacks. Ebooks are my least preferred format, but I still read ’em anyway🔥

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱? 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 ‘𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱’?⁣

Funniest book I ever read (which I just finished last week) is ‘Set My Heart to Five’, by Simon Stephenson. I truly laughed out loud while reading this fantastic sci-fi! Although the ending was a bit melancholy, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard like I did with this book. Perhaps I’ll write a detailed review of it one day soon. I also hear there might be a movie adaption of it… Well we’ll wait to see if it’ll be as good as the book!⁣

𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀:⁣

Set in 2054 where humans have locked themselves out of the internet and Elon Musk has incinerated the moon, Set My Heart to Five is the hilarious yet profoundly moving story of one android’s emotional awakening.⁣

One day at a screening of a classic movie, Jared notices a strange sensation around his eyes. Bots are not permitted to have feelings, but as the theater lights come on, Jared discovers he is crying.⁣

Soon overwhelmed by powerful emotions, Jared heads west, determined to find others like himself. But a bot with feelings is a dangerous proposition, and Jared’s new life could come to an end before it truly begins. Unless, that is, he can somehow change the world for himself and all of his kind.⁣

Unlike anything you have ever read before, Set My Heart to Five is a love letter to outsiders everywhere. Plus it comes uniquely guaranteed to make its readers weep a minimum of 29mls of tears.*⁣

*Book must be read in controlled laboratory conditions arranged at reader’s own expense. Other terms and conditions may apply to this offer.⁣
