Bird watcher says he won’t cooperate in Manhattan DA’s prosecution of dog walker caught on video ranting the Black man was ‘threatening’ her life

Central Park Karen’s reportedly getting a break.

Christian Cooper, an avid bird watcher whose viral video showed a frantic dog-walking white woman calling 911 to complain that he was “an African American man threatening my life,” says he wants no part in her prosecution.

Quickly dubbed “Central Park Karen,” Amy Cooper’s histrionics were viewed more than 100 million times. (Christian Cooper/AP)
“On the one hand, she’s already paid a steep price,” Cooper, a Manhattan resident and member of the New York City Audubon Society, told the New York Times Tuesday about Amy Cooper, who was publicly shamed and lost her job after the May 25 racist rant was posted online.

“That’s not enough of a deterrent to others? Bringing her more misery just seems like piling on.”

“So if the DA feels the need to pursue charges, he should pursue charges. But he can do that without me,” he added.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance on Monday stated his office had “initiated prosecution of Amy Cooper for Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Third Degree. Our office will provide the public with additional information as the case proceeds.”

It’s unclear what, if any, effect Cooper’s non-cooperation will have on the case.

Opinion: Wow, when you educate with you the master you become compassionate with your master. If the master house is burning like Malcolm X said the slave will work harder to put out the master’s house than his own. Posttraumatic slave syndrome is real. If the cops would have come with guns blazing and did not see his Degree from Harvard he might be Hashtag. He could send a clear message to every Karen or Ken that call the police unnecessarily on black people to stop this mess, He loves the master more than he loves himself. This is so sad in so many ways.
