Are you sitting home wondering what to watch?

Well there are a number of new shows that have been released on Netflix. At a time when there is a lot going on in the world sometimes it is nice to sit back and just watch something that is a lot of fun and up lifting.

Over the last two weeks, during lockdown, some good series and documentaries did make me smile. A lot of the shows are new to Netflix but some are some old favorites that are very entertaining.

Restaurant on the Edge Season Two

This is a series that travels around the world helping individuals who run restaurants. Generally these restaurants aren’t doing so well and need some help otherwise they are likely to close. Some of these restaurants have to be seen to be believed. The state prior to the renovation makes you scratch you head and wonder how on earth the owners of these restaurants allowed them to get so run down and worn out. A great show for anyone who is a foodie or loves to travel.

The Big Flower Fight

This is a competition series where florists are battling for a chance to win. Each week they are given a design and whoever presents the most impressive floral presentation that meets the design brief winsthe challenge. Basically if you were a fan of The Great British Baking Show then you are going to love this new series on Netflix.

Queer Eye Season Five

Season five has just been released and grab the tissues. The Fab Five are back and traveling around the US improving people’s lives, but more importantly telling their stories. It gives you a real good look into the life of an every day American. But what is so charming about this series is how in each episode each person opens up and exposes who they really are without any judgement. The Fab Five accept them and genuinely want to help. Definitely worth a watch if you want something to give you the warm and fuzzies.

The Great British Baking Show

The latest season of The Great British Baking Show was released earlier this year and features a new round of contestants in the famed cooking tent. We are introduced to some great family cooks who have developed their skills as a baker. Each week the contestants face off in the tent to a number of technical challenges that are critiqued by the famed Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. Another binge watchable show if you are a foodie or love to cook!

Grand Design Season Two

If you are a fan of architecture and incredible designs for family homes then this show is for you. Kevin McCloud visits various families around the UK and we witness them building their dream home. This series presents in all its glory the trials and tribulations these families experience trying to build their design. It is another binge worthy series that you can’t help but watch an entire series over a weekend.

Kath & Kim

This Australian comedy is brash and very bold. It is a characterization of your typical Australian suburban mother and daughter from Fountain Lakes. Kath Day-Knight and Kim Craig have a love for shopping, food and anything that is different, unusual and unique. Kim is often joined by friend/tagalong Sharon and very early on we see the struggles Kim has to face when Kath marries her new husband, Kel Knight. Kim clearly does not like sharing the attention of her mother but this is a very funny and amusing comedy.

Becoming

Michelle Obama takes us on a journey into her life. This impressive documentary covering the life of the former First Lady makes you realize just how lucky we were to have such a strong, caring and all round good person who only wants the best for everyone. It is an up close and personal account of the life of Michelle as she is on her book tour but the film explores her journey to get to where she is today. This is a touching and genuine story about a woman who has a big heart and captivates everyone she encounters.

Netflix continually presents engaging and thought provoking series and sometimes shows that are just good fun and binge worthy. Even though things are tough in the world at the moment there are some good shows that will help you escape from your reality for a brief moment in time and hopefully make you laugh and smile along the way.
