Beyoncé Unveils New Whisky & Explains Family Connection

[ad_1]

Beyoncé has launched her own whisky brand in collaboration with Moët Hennessy – and it has deep ties to her family history.

Named SirDavis, the new line pays homage to the superstar’s paternal great-grandfather Davis Hogue, who she recently learned was a farmer and a moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition.

“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,” Bey said in a statement. “When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated. SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy.

“In partnering with Moët Hennessy, we have crafted a delicious American whisky that respects tradition but also empowers people to experience something new and unique in the category. You can taste it better than I could ever tell you — welcome, SirDavis.”

And as a nod to her roots, SirDavis is fully finished, blended, bottled and headquartered in Beyoncé’s Houston hometown – making for Moët Hennessy’s first spirits brand developed entirely in the United States.

Each bottle has a price point of $89 and will be released nationally in September.

On the music side of things, Beyoncé‘s push into the world of country music has yielded another career win as she has emerged with the second highest number of nominations at the upcoming People’s Choice County Music Awards.

According to Billboard, Bey has received a total of 17 nods for the upcoming ceremony, just two fewer than Country star Zach Bryan.

The first two singles from her genre-bending album Cowboy Carter — “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em” — are both nominated for The Female Song of 2024. She’s also nominated twice in The Cover Song of 2024 category, for her renditions of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and The Beatles’ “Blackbird” — the latter of which which features rising country stars Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell and Tiera Kennedy.

Mrs. Knowles-Carter is also nominated for The People’s Artist of 2024, The Social Country Star of 2024, The Album of 2024, The Song of 2024 (“Texas Hold ‘Em”), The Collaboration Song of 2024 (“Blackbird”), The Crossover Song of 2024 (“II Most Wanted,” her duet with Miley Cyrus), and The Storyteller Song of 2024 (“16 Carriages”).

While his appearance on Cowboy Carter‘s “Levii’s Jeans” did not earn a song nomination, Post Malone landed six nominations of his own, five of which were for his collaboration with Morgan Wallen on the song “I Had Some Help.”

All winners at the People’s Country Music Awards — a self-proclaimed “award show for the people and by the people” — will be decided by fan votes during a pretty tight voting period, which started on Wednesday (August 13) and ends this Friday (August 23).

All votes entered on Tuesday (August 20), a.k.a. “Turbo Tuesday,” will be counted twice. Fans can view the full list of nominees, eligibility guidelines and cast their ballots at VotePCCA.com.
