Bexy “The End of the World Again” Song Review

Sometimes life can be like waking up from a dream. For a short time, you may be aware of everything that took place within it, but those memories often soon fade. It leaves the dreamer with a bunch of questions that he or she may not be able to answer. Bexy is on a similar journey in her latest single “The End of the World Again.”  The song has a ticking timebomb audio device within the lyrics that suggest we don’t have as much time as we think we do or the amount we want, but at the end of the road will your love be there? After everything goes away, the glitz and the glamour, our youth and wiser years, will our love be there to sustain each other throughout the ups and downs? Bexy is raising those questions in the song and by the end of the track she has arrived at a solution.

Lyrics

(Verse 1)
I was just a kid
When I saw too much
I’ll hide in closets
When I feel too much
Please just hold my head
Until these feelings pass
You took what I thought was love
And chased it with the wild
Animal
I’ll go to the fields
And find what you left behind

It’s always an unfortunate circumstance when someone in their youth is in emotional distress. Often times they will use their age as a defense mechanism, exclaiming “don’t put me through this, I’m only (insert age).” And when that person sees or experience things that are too difficult to process it creates a spiral that can spin the person out of control emotionally and in other ways. The character in the song is looking for support but it isn’t there and she embarks on a journey to pick up the missing pieces of her life’s puzzle.

(Chorus)
At the end of the world
Will I still be your girl?
Everyone loses, kings and horses
We’ll get married
Plan our funerals
On the same day
Might as well, cause it’s the end of the world
Will I still be your girl?
Everyone loses, kings and horses
We’ll get married
Plan our funerals
On the same day
Might as well, cause it’s the end of the world

Life is constantly changing, there are so many obstacles for us to go through. The character understands that one day the people in life that are essentially the royals will someday realize that the kingdom won’t last forever. As we physically and emotionally develop and retract over time, where and what is there to hold on to? It has to be love. It has to be something that connects two hearts together. They must be on the same frequency in order to surpass all the obstacles and make their lives the best it can be. One of the most intriguing parts of these lyrics is the idea of planning your funeral on your wedding day. While most people would stay pretty far away from this kind of an action, the lyrics truly personify the need to share love now without inhibitions.

(Verse 2)
Even when I’m older
I’ll let it get to me
Hide behind the curtain
You can’t see me
And I’ll leave footprints everywhere that I can see you coming
Find me
I swear

The character acknowledges that she will be on this journey for the duration of her lifetime. While some things may get her down, she seems willing to endure whatever life throws her way.
