Enter Bellefolie. Fronted by Isabell Aga Engelsen alongside her husband Jarle Håland (drummer and producer), the Norwegian band is completed by Fredrik Mekki Widerøe (guitar), Torkel Toft (keys) and Andreas Kvinge Sandnes (bass).
On Friday, Bellefolie released their debut single, “In the Clouds”, via Apollon Records. This song is melodious, harmony-filled and introspective.
“‘In The Clouds’ emerged in the aftermath of losing a family member, and deals with longing and the heavy emotions surrounding it, but it is also a reflection on our connection to, and place in nature,” Isabell says.
The record was co-produced by Jarle and Isabell, with Jørgen Træen and Robin Schmidt being recruited for the mixing and mastering, respectively. Its fusion of pop, folk and rock is particularly mesmerizing. “In the Clouds” is a truly gripping song, and a perfect debut offering.
