‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Prepares for Box Office

The original film was an extraordinary success at the global box office and many film critics predict the sequel will be the same. However, some critics are a bit skeptical because it’s been about 13 years since the original film made box office history. While it may be unrealistic to expect those kinds of numbers to happen a second time, it’s safe to say that the next installment will certainly have a diverse audience.

The plot picks up 10 years after the first Avatar and several members of the original cast have returned: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi and Sigourney Weaver. Hollywood superstar Kate Winslet has joined the cast for the sequel.

It is staggering to look at the numbers generated from the Avatar franchise. The first movie made $750 million domestically and $2.74 billion worldwide. The project was absolutely phenomenal, which makes the sequel highly-anticipated. While it will be nearly impossible to duplicate these figures, it is totally a possibility for Avatar: The Way of Water to be the highest-grossing film in the US even though there are only a couple weeks left in the year.
