Now that she’s on break from her latest world tour, Ariana Grande has been in the studio creating new music for her upcoming album. Today she released a single entitled “Positions” with a new music video. It is a pop song with a unique idea, that everyone has to be prepared to take on the various positions that they have in their life.
An example would be someone who is a daughter at home, a student at school, and a President of the Student Council after class. This person has at least three different positions. Grande showcased this idea in the music video where she plays the President of the United States, a chef and a homemaker through various different cut scenes.
As usual, Grande delivers a powerful vocal with lyrics that take an inspirational tone. Many fans will consider “Positions” a welcome addition to her discography. Ariana Grande wrapped up her Sweetener World Tour last December. It showcased music from her fourth and fifth albums.
She performed an astounding 101 concerts in Europe and North America. The tour grossed $146.4 million in sales. Some of the opening acts were Ella Mai, Normani and Social House. Sweetener World Tour received two nominations: People’s Choice Award for Favorite Concert Tour and a Teen Choice Award for Choice Summer Tour.
The tour was produced by Live Nation, who booked the concert in Europe and North America exclusively this time around. Ariana Grande, in all her previous tours, had concerts in Asian and Latino countries where she also has millions of fans.
Perhaps the next time she is on tour Live Nation will bring her performances there first in order for her to reach her entire audience. The concept for the tour was the idea of a sphere. The idea that life is a circle and we get out of it what we put into.
This idea was also reflected on the stage itself which was a runway that could turn 360 degrees. In addition to performing on these spherical stages, Grande wanted the stage to be abstract art. Live nation brought in popular designers to make the stage look like different pieces of visual art for every song that was performed.
The Sweetener Tour was attended by 1.3 million fans. Grande also partnered with non-profit organization Headcount who helped fans get prepared to vote in the 2020 Presidential Election between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
Ariana Grande’s career is moving in the right direction. She’s had multiple successful tours, sold millions of albums, and has been a part of pop culture ever since her acting days on Nickelodeon. Now that she’s off the stage, her management will be monitoring how successful her music is in regards to album sales and songs streamed on the various music streaming services (Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora and many others).
After being on the road for awhile and traveling from country to country, it is interesting that Grande is releasing new music this soon. After successful tours, many artists take a hiatus for a while before getting back into making music and performing. For Ariana Grande, she took a brief break and is already back to work.
This is especially meaningful for her fans who are listening to the new music during the Covid-19 pandemic. Perhaps her new music will help her fans get through the tough time many of them are having right now.
