Italian art organization ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with Venice Events and ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, is pleased to announce the open call for CONSCIOUSNESS, the second appointment of ANIMA MUNDI 2022, in Venice at The Room Contemporary Art Spac from May 12 to June 03, 2022, and at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello from May 13 to June 03, 2022, during the 59th Venice Biennale of Art.
According to Anima Mundi the world is a living spiritual being. The ancient philosophers and the alchemists referred to the spiritual essence of the world as the anima mundi, the “Soul of the World.” They regarded the World Soul as a pure ethereal spirit diffused throughout all nature, it was the divine essence that embraces and energizes life in the universe. Mundi refers to the understanding of the world as sacred resurfaced from time to time. In the Gothic revival of the twelfth century, and later in the Renaissance, Anima Mundi created world was briefly seen via the image of the World Soul. In some cathedrals, the Gothic architects reflected their vision of a sacred order within the creation of the feminine divine principle. “The World Soul animated and formed nature according to divine proportions, which the architects, masons, sculptors, and stained glass artists imaged in their creation through history. The alchemists continued to explore the anima mundi. On the other hand, the Church looked for light in the heavens. It is known that the alchemists sought the light hidden in matter. They believed that there was a sacred essence in the fabric of creation, which they tried via certain experiments and imagination to release. This art call is for all artists interested in the alchemist approach to a subject matter, seen through the eye of the artists.”
This is the call for artists with special interests. The festival focuses on the concept of ANIMA MUNDI, that according to several historical cultures, religions or philosophical systems, is an „intrinsic connection between all living entities on the planet, which relates to the world in a similar way as the human soul is connected to the human body.“
ANIMA MUNDI by ITSLIQUID Group has 3 main events: RITUALS (April/May), CONSCIOUSNESS and VISIONS. The selection this time is referred for the artists for:
– CONSCIOUSNESS from May 12 to June 03, 2022, at The Room Contemporary Art Space, from May 13 to June 03, 2022, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, and from May 14 to June 03, 2022, at ITSLIQUID ART SPACE – Venice Grand Canal. The deadline is the 17th of April 2022.
– VISIONS from June 16 to July 06, 2022, at The Room Contemporary Art Space, from June 17 to July 06, 2022, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, and from June 18 to July 06, 2022, at ITSLIQUID ART SPACE – Venice Grand Canal.
The deadline for applications is May 29, 2022
The participation fee is related to the dimensions and number of the artworks. Artists can send their work via submissions with a CV/biography, some still images (for video-art), links of videos/performances, and pictures via e-mail to director@itsliquid.com.
