Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte are back, thankfully not in anything like the second movie.

And Just Like That is a reincarnation of Sex and the City, but it now focuses on the life of the three characters as they enter middle age, note Samantha is not included in this new series.

And Just Like That is reimagined by Michael Patrick King and focuses on the lives of Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they try to navigate life in a woke world. They trip and stumble as the world as evolved around them as they try to stay on top of it all.

Carrie is now working on a podcast series, which to say the least, she appears a little awkward and out of her depth. Miranda has pivoted her career and now back at college studying and realizing she is wanting to make some large changes to her life. Charlotte is the quintessential Upper East Side mother, raising two adorable kids and very much in love with her lawyer husband Harry.

The world has really changed since Sex and the City series concluded in 2004. Manhattan has grown and the people are more focused on the world around them and not just fashion and the sex lives of their friends. But there is something very reassuring with the return of the much- loved series.

There is one noticeable absence from the series, Samantha, played by Kim Catrall. Over the years Kim has been quite vocal about her wish not to return because she has moved on with her career but also she felt that she was excluded by other actors, notably Sarah Jessica Parker. Whether or not this is true, Samantha is absent from the series and it is explained that she and Carrie had a falling out and that Samantha has relocated to London.

Michael Patrick King has developed this series so it does address the lives of these characters as they age and navigate the changes in their life and question the purpose and point. Gone are the sex obsessed girls who were on the conquest to find a husband and now we have three strong woman questioning their point and purpose of life as they try to find some meaning in the Big Apple.

And Just Like That does revolve around the life of Carrie Bradshaw and Sarah Jessica Parker is perfect in the role. She is the quintessential Carrie and you couldn’t see anyone else more suited to the role. There is something about her performance that reminds you of Mary Tyler Moore.

But standout, as always is Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbs. The witty one liners, the dry sarcasm is pan delivery of some of the funniest lines in the series, Cynthia is just perfection and a joy to watch on the screen. She is awkward, uncomfortable, confronting, combative and direct. Everything you love about a New Yorker and Cynthia plays it like second nature.

Of course, you cannot talk about And Just Like That without mentioning the sweet and genuine Charlotte York played by Kristen Davis, who embraces the Upper East Side gal with full force. She is the epitome of the Upper East Side but that is because Kristen is so good in the role.

And Just Like That has been embraced by the viewers and lovers of Sex and the City. Some of the initial reactions have been subdued, but like the original series it does take a beat to get into it. But once you are hooked you are going to enjoy the ride and realize it is just fun to reconnect with an old friend that will remind you why you fell in love with some really interesting characters as they journey life in the everchanging New York City.

And Just Like That is available to stream on HBO Go and a new episode is available every Thursday.
