Amy Adams has got that dog in her … or at least the Nightbitch trailer has her convinced that she does. Based on the book of the same by Rachel Yoder, the upcoming Searchlight Pictures film stars Adams as a stay-at-home mom who starts to believe that she’s turning into a canine. Facing the pressures of motherhood and an unhelpful husband, she expands the definition of “dog mom” by eating out of a pet bowl with her kid, digging on the ground, and barking at other people. She starts to wonder whether she’s getting “fuzzy,” and if her teeth are getting sharper. But is the transformation really all in her head? At one point, we hear a snarl as Adams jumps with her fingers bent into claws, presumably about to assume her dog form. It kinda feels like the closest we’ve gotten to an Animorphs movie so far (though there were reports in 2020 that a big-screen adaptation of the animal shapeshifting series was in development). Will going feral finally be Adams’s ticket to winning an Oscar? Make your predictions after saying good morning to Nightbitch in theaters on December 6.
