American Idol Finalist Jayna Elise Will Lead North American Tour of Tina–The Tina Turner Musical

The tour will launch in Ohio in September before visiting over 60 cities.

American Idol and America’s Got Talent finalist Jayna Elise—formerly known as Jayna Brown—will play the late rock icon Tina Turner in the upcoming non-Equity tour of Tina–The Tina Turner Musical.

Elise will share the role with Mona Swain in the North American tour, which will hold technical rehearsals at the State Theatre in Springfield,
Ohio, and officially launch at EJ Thomas Hall in Akron, Ohio, September 24 before going on to visit over 60 cities.

The cast will also feature Sterling Baker-McClary as Ike Turner/Ronnie Turner, Elaina Walton as Zelma Bullock, Deidre Lang as Gran Georgeanna, and Kristen Daniels as Rhonda Graam/Toni Basil.

The ensemble will include Maurice Alpharicio, Catrina Brenae, Taylor Brice, Mya Bryant, Audrey Taylor Floyd, Chelsea Nicole Green, Charis Michelle Gullage, Callie Holley, Joe Hornberger, Jeffrey May Hyche, Daniyah Jezel, Aveighyah “Veigh” Lee, Morgan Lewis, Ashley D. Lyles, Bear Manescalchi, Darius J. Manuel, Pharaoh Mouton, Steven Sawan, Albert Sterner, Ephraim Takyi, Hunter Torr, and Paul Watt-Morse.

Based on the life of Grammy winner Tina Turner and produced in association with Turner, Tina—The Tina Turner Musical received its world premiere in April 2018 at the Aldwych Theatre, where it continues. The Broadway production opened in 2019 and played its final performance at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre August 14, 2022. Tony winner Adrienne Warren opened both productions.

The touring production is directed by Phyllida Lloyd with associate direction by Sharika Niles, choreography by Anthony van Laast, associate choreography by Janet Rothermel, set and costume design by Mark Thompson, associate scenic design by Brian Webb, costume coordination by Kaitlyn Barrett, additional music and arrangements by Nicholas Skilbeck, music supervision by Alvin Hough Jr., lighting by Bruno Poet, associate lighting design by John Viesta, assistant lighting design by Ken Wills, sound by Nevin Steinberg, associate sound design by Jaechelle Johnson, projection design by Jeff Sugg, associate projection design by Simon Harding, animations by Brittany Bland, orchestrations by Ethan Popp, wigs, hair, and makeup design by Campbell Young Associates, hair and wig coordination by Liz Printz, and casting by Murnane Casting.
