Alesis Melody 61 MKII – Product Review

The electric keyboard is boxed with a stand, seat, microphone and headphones. If you get the keyboard mailed to you from Amazon, it may be a good opportunity for you because you will not have to carry the heavy box from a store to home.

When you open the box there are many components inside. Do not worry, the installation booklet is not the first thing that is seen after the box is opened. It is within the accessories box next to the microphone and headphones. There is a pretty straightforward guide on how to setup everything and it makes the whole installation process easy. At first, you’re going to see the pieces of the stand in different plastic wrappings and you will not know what to do; however, do not get discouraged, once you locate the booklet everything is clear.

There is no need for your own tools to setup anything, as there are screws with a key that is also in the package for setting up the keyboard stand. There is also a strap that you screw into the keyboard and place around the top beams on the keyboard stand. This is the most difficult part of the setup process but once you realize what to do it is not very time consuming.

The Alesis Melody 61 MKII is designed for students that are new to playing the keyboard/piano. It’s an entry-level instrument that feels professional and has enough features for an introductory student.

The keyboard has 61 keys, 300 instrument sounds and accompaniment rhythms, and 40 demo songs. It also has the ability to record and playback music.

The instrument can be powered by an AC adapter or six AA batteries. There is a split keyboard mode that will give the student the ability to mix sounds from two different instruments.

An interesting part of the package is that you get 3 months of Skoove Premium online piano courses for free.

If you can run Skoove on a laptop it will record the sounds as you play and the program can determine if you are playing the right keys, which can help the student learn how to read and play music efficiently.

Alesis Melody 61 MKII is a good instrument for those just starting out, and the product is affordable. Amazon has the best price, it is at least $15 cheaper than what other companies are offering.
